For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, a parade to celebrate gender equality and inclusivity for the LGBTQIA+ community will once again be held in Port of Spain.

During the pandemic the annual month of festivities, usually held during the month of July, were done virtually, however with the relaxation of restrictions the public can once again take part in the Trinidad and Tobago LGBTQIA+ Pride Fair and Parade which is scheduled to take place on Sunday August 21, 2022, at the Nelson Mandela Park.

The group said the theme for this year’s event is “rejuveNATION” and ties in with the country’s 60th independence anniversary celebrations.

“PrideTT’s 2022 programming is themed “rejuveNATION,” which describes the organization’s hope and promise for a more united nation where every citizen has PRIDE in their country and where every creed and race can truly find an equal place.

“The idea is that the 60th anniversary of our nation’s Independence should act as a catalyst for rebirth and rejuvenation to instil both National Pride and LGBTQIA+ Pride for both nationals and LGBTQIA+ citizens to work together towards building unity and solidarity around equality, diversity, and inclusion for every citizen to have an equal and equitable place to work, live, love, and play in their own country.”

The group said the parade will be the capstone finale to this year’s Pride Month celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago.

Entrepreneurial members of the LGBTQIA+ community wishing to promote their businesses can also reach out to book a table at the fair.
